I went into this drawing session to see how far I could push myself into abstracting the figure.  I don't think that I went all that far.  I started with a "partial" blind contour, then glanced down and continued in the same manner. I kept reverting to a more realistic image.

Although I start my figure drawings with a model, once I get the initial lines and shadowing down, I don't really need the model to hold still.  I can finish the drawings at home, or enjoy a conversation with the model while continuing the work.  I finished this one at home recently.

This is another of the quick drawings I did for the Oregon Arts Alliance (see last post). I'm not sure if they sold this one or not. If not, I should get it back :)

Generally I don't sell my drawings, but the Oregon Arts Alliance had a fund raiser where a group of artists sketched a group of models one evening. It was great fun for both the artists and the public who watched. The drawings were tacked up on the wall and sold for cheap ($25 ea.). I'll try and give you a heads up on when the next one will be ... if they have another one! I would definitely do it again.
